We all have our individual burdens to endure, but it seems to me that maybe poor Sprout got the short end of the stick this week. She endures the daily indignity of diaper changing and being slung over my shoulder to be burped with a maturity well beyond her 28 days, and we've discussed her hair at length before. All of these things she seems to take with a grain of salt. Today however, I think we may have reached the last straw.
Sprout's developed baby acne. I've been trying to tell her it makes her cuter, in an adolescent type of way, but I don't think she's buying it. She's off sulking in her crib as we speak, I'm not sure I can convince her to leave her room. She doesn't even want the beautifully (read obnoxiously) colored animals on her mobile to see her. I guess this is just another lesson for her to learn - this too shall pass.
Well, on a serious note...Sprout has developed some baby acne, but we were expecting that. She has also began to discover the world around her. Her swing and crib mobile which for the past few weeks seem to have done nothing more then piss her off, have begun to offer enough distraction that Mom and Dad could take showers this morning without playing the baby pass-off routine in the middle of it, not to mention eat breakfast with Sproutie watching from the swing as opposed to pearched on one of our shoulders. Luckily for us she's still sleeping great (6 hoursof sleep, up for a feed, down for another 2 last night!) even though we've had to endure some increased fussiness (likely due to the hair issues and baby acne).
So that friends and family is the 4 week update. I can hardly remember a time when she wasn't here, and as far as being pregnant (?) Was I ever pregnant?
Bella had baby acne too. It's unfortunate, but it passes quickly. I tried to tell her that it made her look mature.
Also, I decided this morning that it was time to start using "product" in her hair. I wish I had started earlier -- like Sprout's age. A bit of leave-in conditioner seemed to tame the beast.
On the vacation issue, I'd prefer a long weekend. Any variety of accomodations are okay with us as long as our unfortunate sleep schedule isn't inflicted on other vacationers (6 a.m. wake-up calls aren't the best for making new friends).
