Nothing says pissed off like a cat with wet ears. It's been four weeks of twice daily antibiotic drops in his ears and twice weekly cleanings. At first he resisted, but now his spirit has been broken.

After hearing from another vet that the cat could stand to loose a little weight, we've switched him to diet cat food!
And as you've probably noticed by the riveting content of this post, we don't have much to report at the moment. Hass goes to work, Cole stays home, the Gato still has greasy ears, Josie grows and develops. Nobody gets enough sleep, we're all having fun, but not too much.
We're condsidering taking Josie out to a restaurant (actually a taqueria) this weekend, solely for the purpose of giving us an embaressing story to blog about.

One of parentings little known challenges is making a sound that is sufficently soothing (shhhhhh) to put sprout at ease, while being sufficently caustic (SCCCrrrRRR) to drive the cat away. The other challenge is that when making the soothing sound, it tends to call the cat.Full entry

For those sitting on the edge of their seats awaiting news on the cat.
First, he has not been siezed from out custody due to blatant neglect.
However he does have a double ear infection. To be entirely accurate he has one active ear infection (the gross ear), and one old infection (that we likely never noticed but is still lingering).
How do you treat a double ear infection in a cat?
1. Take him in back room at the clinic and clean out ear. Return cat to owner with 2 wet ears while he repeatedly shakes his head.
2. Prescribe ear drops, a solution for rinsing ears, and antibiotics in PILL FORM. Quick aside here: Is this vet a madman? Has he ever attempted to give a cat a pill?
So that's the story. Feel free to send your condolences. (No, not to the cat, to Hassan and myself who have to spend the next week administering oral antibiotics to the cat). For those of you with experience medicating cats - let's hear your tips.

Hey! you, yeah you! Somebody forget about me? I'm still here. I went on a bender last night and threw-up six times in four different rooms, and nobody mentions it on the blog.
That's the last time I eat tropical plants though. Mixing an Aloe plant and Yucca palm is like mixing beer and wine.Full entry

While the human occupants are enjoying big windows in the new place, the cat is just absolutely loving it.

The car quietly sits by on the night stand watching, watching, keep an eye over us. NIcole sleeps, hass fiddles on the puter. awww and the cute little cat sits by our side the ever watchful cat who just loves us. Oh wait, there is a spider on the wall, he has no interest in us.

Once again, the gato has been exceptionally cute and some may say even well behaved. He's still completely nuts and a pest, but seems to be showing he redeeming qualities as of late. I guess that means he deserves his own category and his own webpage.
