I've found myself in an anti-WNYC mood as of late, and have been broadening my radio listening range.
The reasons for the change:
1) WNYC just sounds too polished. They started doing too many slick self promotional spots a couple months ago.
2) It's time to stop pretending we still live in the city. It's not precisely local news or weather anymore.
3) Our reception sucks, meaning we're streaming in the audio through iTunes anyway, so why not listen to a non-local station.
The Stations I've been listening too:
KKCR, KCRW, KKJZ, WNAN, KANZ, WXPN
They all feel a little less polished and more down to earth. Check em out when you get a chance. When I get a chance I'll write up why I like each of these stations.
